Senior Legal & Governance Officer

Randstad is searching for a skilled and accomplished Senior Legal Governance Officer who possesses a keen eye for detail and excels in their field. This role requires the ability to build and sustain strong relationships. About your new role

The Senior Legal and Governance Officer works with reasonable autonomy under the general oversight of the Coordinator Legal and Governance. The core purpose is to support internal Council governance, ensure strict legislative and contractual compliance, and protect the community's interests by ensuring legal probity and transparency across day-to-day operations.

Location: Inner south-east

What you will need to exceed

• Proven track record advising on governance and highly regulated frameworks within corporate, in-house, and government legal departments.
• Extensive experience managing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, privacy matters, human rights law, and public sector anti-corruption frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legislation to draft authoritative legal advice, formal reports, and comprehensive legal documents.
• Direct, hands-on experience managing litigation matters and successfully conducting prosecutions.
• Skilled in drafting and advising on commercial contracts, with practical experience navigating tendering and procurement processes.
• Highly developed research, interpretive, and analytical skills to resolve complex or sensitive issues.
• The ability to plan, prioritise and organise one's own workload effectively under tight deadlines and statutory constraints.

Must have

• A tertiary qualification in law and/or relevant equivalent experience.

Desirable

• Experience in working for government
